Woodthorpe Hospital staff have been busy bakers to raise over £150 for The Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation.
Employees from different departments teamed up to bake a series of delightful cakes and sold them off at the hospital.
All cakes were displayed in the main reception area at Woodthorpe and staff and patients could either buy a cake or make a donation to the charity.
The colourful creations were judged by Ramsay Health Care’s Chief Executive Andy Jones who was visiting the hospital on the day of the sale and the best cake was created by Payroll Co-ordinator Wendy Davies.
The Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation is striving to find a treatment or cure for the Sanfilippo Syndrome.
Sanfilippo Syndrome is a rare and fatal condition and affected children have a life expectancy of between just 12 and 20 years.
Wendy baked a special cake to celebrate 10 years of Ramsay Health Care UK.
Wendy said: “The Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation is very close to a hospital employee’s heart and we decided to organise a ‘bake sale’ to support this cause.
“We are very grateful to all the staff at Woodthorpe who baked cakes in their spare time to sell and supported our fundraising effort by buying them or making a donation on the day.
“This was our latest charity event and we are pleased to raise this money for the Foundation and hope it can help to make a difference.”
